She discusses Swedish dress, weaving, schooling, car use during war, dating norms, and hospitality before returning to Sweden after tours in local homes.

Cox Reaches South Plains on Campaign Swing for Governor

Republican candidate Jack Cox held stops in Floydada Plainview and Selena Brownfield Clubhouse as part of a two day tour. He was greeted by local party figures at Terry County Airport and finished with a $5 a head event before facing Democrat John Connally in November.

Gaines County Farm Bureau Queen Named Rae Nell Hanson

Rae Nell Hanson, 17, of Seagraves was chosen Gaines County Farm Bureau Queen at the annual Gaines Farm Bureau barbecue and queen contest. The event crowned Miss Hanson after she competed in the Miss South Plains Beauty Pageant. Crowning her was Billye King of Loop, the 1958 FB Queen and another pageant contestant.

Pistol Wielding Trio Sparks Police Hunt in West Texas

Three youths in a speeding 1955 Chrysler brandished a cap pistol at service stations near Brownfield and Seagraves before heading toward Seminole. The prank prompted police alerts. no charges were filed. Other weekend arrests included 15 for drunkenness and three for liquor offenses, plus a two-car collision causing $110 in damages. A theft of two seat belt sets from a 1962 GMC and a vagrancy case with mixed checks were also reported.

Court defers move of county agent to new ag building

County commissioners delayed action this week on relocating the county agent from the courthouse to the forthcoming Terry County Agricultural Building. The court also authorized the county clerk to advertise bids for partial courthouse renovation as legal details are resolved. Judge R A Simms cited unresolved procedural issues before a decision. Rain totals flood Brownfield area as storms roll through

Two day rainfall across Brownfield totals 2.62 inches with outlying zones up to 5.5 inches. Lightning damaged a home on East Lake and cut power to six residences in East Reppto and East Lons. Hail spotted near Meadow and Wellman reports up to 5.5 inches in the week.

GenTel appoints H F Emery traffic superintendent for Western Division

H F Emery becomes traffic superintendent for GenTel Western Division Brown field moving from GenTel San Angelo. He replaces W J Nichols who transfers to San Angelo as traffic engineer. Emery, a Chicago native, began in telephony in 1927 with Illinois Bell and joined GenTel in Michigan as a commercial clerk before moving to the Southwest in 1955.

Young Democrats Club Planned in Terry County

An organizational meeting is set for Friday at 7 30 p m at The Party House to form the Young Democrats Club of Terry County. The group will be an official youth wing of the Democratic Party with 2 annual dues and an age limit of 35. Mrs Vic Porter will assist in organizing the club, with Howard Hurd and John J Kendrick aiding, and official chartering will follow officer elections.

Safety Belt Sale Slated Saturday

Final sale of safety seat belts will be held here Saturday by Brownfield Jaycees. Booths will be set up in front of Copeland Hardware and at the United Super Market parking lot. Belts priced at six dollars drive only with front seats at 1.50 and rear seats at 2.50. About 110 belts sold last Saturday. co chairs Mary Wyatt and David Cole urge participation for safety. Belts come in 12 color choices to match auto interiors.

Governor Of Rotary To Be Here

District 573 Rotary International governor Floyd Stark of Seminole will visit Brownfield Rotarians Friday at noon. He travels with his wife Eunice Bynum of Brownfield and will meet with club officers to discuss administration and service activities. Stark, a retired merchant, is past president of Seminole Rotary and was elected district governor for 1962 63 at the Los Angeles convention.

DeMolay Reactivated in Brownfield Saturday

Brownfield DeMolay Club reactivated with initiation of 16 boys in the Masonic Temple after noon Saturday. The group is sponsored by Brownfield Scottish Rite and will attach to Lamesa DeMolay Chapter until 25 members enable autonomy. Additional initiations occurred Monday in Lamesa.
