Immunization Clinics Set At South Plains Health Unit

Dr. E. M. Johnson announces second and fourth Wednesday clinics starting Aug 8 from 1 to 4 30 pm at the South Plains Health Unit. Doses include diphtheria, whooping cough, smallpox for non consultors, and polio vaccine for under 20s and pregnant women under federal rules.

Season Tickets To Cubs Home Games On Sale

School officials announce Cubs home game season tickets go on sale Wednesday through August 10 at the courthouse offices of Raymond Simms. Tickets cost 7.50 and reserve a seat for all six home games. After August 11 the Brownfield Quarterback Club will canvas the city for unsold tickets.

Buford Burretts Visiting Family Amid Recovery

Mr. and Mrs. Buford Burnett of Farmington New Mexico visit his parents Commissioner and Mrs Bob Burnett at their home. Both are convalescing from a May 9 automobile accident with Mrs Burnett using crutches and Buford Burnett still weakened after more than two months in an Albuquerque hospital, largely unconscious.

Brownfield 1956 Farm Bureau Queen Contest at BHS Gym

The Terry County Farm Bureau Queen will be named August 23 at Brownfield High School gymnasium. Four entrants remain Donna Sue Christopher Barbara Gay Russell Sabra Welcher and Shirley Hall. Prizes total 50 with awards of 25 15 and 10 dollars. Deadline is August 10.

Brownfield Rodeo Dates Set By Terry County Posse

The Terry County Posse announces a world championship rodeo in Brownfield on August 30 31 and September 1 with a parade kickoff at p m August 30. Admission is 1 for adults and 50 cents for children. Rodeo Cowboys Association contracted to participate with stock by Duke Gibbs of Belton and several famous acts and cowboys planned for the three day event.

Brownfield Hosts World Travelers For Student Exchange

Brownfield families will host 17 students from Europe and one from Algeria for a summer exchange organized by the Association for World Travel Exchange in cooperation with Rotary. The visitors arrive Tuesday from El Reno Oklahoma and spend a day with host families before a joint Rotary Lions program and a city tour ending at Terry County pool. Leaders are Mr and Mrs Robert L. Epps of New Haven Connecticut and they will stay with Mr and Mrs A W Turner in Brownfield.

Brownfield Boys to Receive Lone Star Farmer Degree in Dallas

Two Brownfield youths William Smurl and Avon Floyd travel to Dallas for the Lone Star Farmer Degree at the state FFA convention. Smurl, Area 2 public speaking winner, competes for a statewide title and potentially advances to nationals in October. Accompanied by adviser Walter Meyer, they seek one of 40,000 FFA members eligible for the honor.

Election Eve Interest High in Terry County Primary

The day before the first primary draws 67 candidates across state district and county offices. Polling places are listed from the county clerk to East Ward School with presiding judges named and precinct conventions set for 2 p.m. at Meadow School and courthouse gatherings to choose delegates for the August county and September state conventions. The countywide convention is planned for the courthouse while the statewide meeting will be in Fort Worth.
