Seatbeasts prove worth in accidents
A string of traffic crashes Monday and Tuesday near Brownfield produced no major injuries. In the first incident a 1984 Ford pickup driven by Charles Durham crossed a US 62 crossover and was hit by a 1958 Dodge driven by James Brushe of Lubbock. Brushe was treated and released. passenger Kenneth Nugent of Lubbock uninjured. All occupants wore seat belts. A second collision near Highway 137 and PM 213 involved Albert Bird of Stanton driving a 1988 Kenworth and Rosa Lopez of Brownfield. Bird braked and jackknifed after Lopez turned, no injuries with all restrained and Lopez’ two children inside. In the third crash on FM 213 west of Wellman a 1979 Ford pickup driven by Victor Estorga overturned after a tire failure. Estorga and passenger Randal Cano of Brownfield were treated for minor injuries, seat belts not worn.
