Funeral Service For Mother Of Resident Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur L. Bates 67 of 1107 West Powell were held Tuesday at Westside Baptist Church. She died Monday at Brownfield General Hospital after an extended illness. She had lived in the area since 1927. Burial followed at Brownfield Cemetery. Survivors include her husband a daughter and a son two sisters four brothers two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A Ferguson-Sterel tanker driver was halted in Brownfield after his partner, napping in Plains, was left 32 miles behind. Patrolman J. Beavers said the sleepy partner woke later to find the other had departed. The Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office relayed the alert to city police.
