Brownfield Council Accepts Vehicle Bids and Awards Equipment

The Brownfield City Council approved an $800 bid for a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria from Raymond Flores and rejected a $400 bid on another 1989 Crown Victoria. No bid was placed on a 1981 Ford ambulance van. The council awarded a backhoe loader contract to West Texas Equipment for $41,500 with a $27,000 trade-in, and a Caterpillar tractor dozer for $182,384 plus a $78,000 trade-in. GTE extends local calling to Brownfield area turning all Brownfield to Lubbock and Brownfield to Levelland calls into local. Local resident helps dachshund Angel regain mobility with metal bracket

Wanda Thomas, Brownfield CISD superintendent secretary, cared for nine year old red dachshund Angel after a back injury left her paralyzed. A wheel bracket, built by Lubbock vet Dr. Tom Neal and repaired by WAR Sheet Metal, lets Angel roam the yard. Thomas describes Angel as a “baby” who loves chasing squirrels and sleeping tucked in a blanket.
