Boll weevil numbers lower than expected in Texas
Brownfield district officials report fewer boll weevils than anticipated as rains halt field work. Dusek notes 95.5 percent drop in overwintering weevils, with about 10 percent of acres treated weekly and plans to resume after drying weather. Authorities warn of moisture washing away Malathion and may re-treat in windows, while monitoring for secondary pests and coordinating with entomologists and IPM agents.
