CASA Receives 4800 Grant To Recruit South Plains Volunteers

CASA of the South Plains has been awarded a $4,800 grant from the Lubbock Area Foundation to recruit and train volunteers as Guardian Ad Litem for abused and neglected children in Lubbock and surrounding counties. The grant, from the Young Leaders Fund and the George and Vivian Wilson endowment, supports CASA’s effort as 140 cases lack a volunteer. In 2006 CASA volunteers aided 1,093 children and saved an estimated $1.8 million in tax dollars by substituting court-appointed volunteers for lawyers. Call 806-763-2272 for more information or to donate.
