Cunningham chosen for 2001 Texas All-State Choir
Jason Cunningham of Brownfield is selected for the 2001 Texas Baptist All-State Choir. The choir meets July 6 to 13 at Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, followed by a South Texas Coastal tour. Cunningham attends Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield.

Relay for Life draws 500 people
Last week's American Cancer Society Relay for Life drew more than 500 attendees and raised several thousand dollars for cancer research. The event spanned 6 p.m. to past midnight at the Nikki Vinson Memorial Youth Center and First Baptist Church parking lots, with a survivor’s lap, games, 1950s theme, speakers, and luminary services. Corporate sponsors included United Supermarket, Sonic, Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and First National Bank, among others, and 22 teams walked to the pool party finale on Saturday to close the fund drive.
