Commissioners Refuse To Pay County Fire Bill

A Jan 20 joint meeting failed to resolve the issue, with county funds cited as a constraint and debate over call rates and equipment. Spirit of the Plains earns most All-Region spots in District 3-AAA
After tryouts at Post High School, Brownfield High School Spirit of the Plains Band features 41 all-region honorees, more than any district school for the 11th straight year. Directors Blane Hinton and Jamie Shipp lead 31 in the band plus 10 alternates, with nine first through third chair finishers. The all-region group will perform January 31 at Lubbock Monterey High School with students from Denver City Post Roosevelt Slaten Cooper Seminole.

New Church Open House Sets Public Invite

Brownfield Youth wins spot in national contest
Brownfield resident Lance Ivie, 12, earned a place in the Pepsi NBA Hershoi National Finals in Los Angeles on April 25 after winning the Dallas area finals Jan. 24. Ivie scored 118 points to win the Boys 9-12 class by 26, defeating competitors from Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
