Brownfield trustees approve Career Ladder and bleacher project
In a 3 1/2 hour meeting the BISD board extended Superintendent Hendley contract, set the spring election, hired two teachers, accepted a resignation, and approved Career Ladder entries for 1987 88. They passed the baseball bleacher replacement project using existing funds and tabled tennis court bids. Enrollment showed 2 664 students, down 89 from last year, with high school up 13. Drug dog update at high school on drug prevention program
The school board heard updates on a black Labrador drug dog used at the high school campus. On two unannounced visits the dog sniffed lockers and cars, finding marijuana seeds, a marijuana cigarette piece and road clips. Parents of involved students were notified and cooperative. The board also rescinded a medication policy requiring a doctor's written request, citing difficulty obtaining physician authorization.
