Victims Sidelined as Restitution Funding Goes Unclaimed
In Terry County during 2002 convicted criminals paid 98645 into the Texas Crime Victims Compensation Fund while only 20321 was paid out. County Attorney Mamie Tells says many victims never apply and that the money mainly covered medical costs and wage losses. Eligibility includes medical, counseling, funeral, and relocation expenses for victims and their families.
