Drug Sweep Nets Dozens Across Brownfield and Terry County
A combined Brownfield Police Department and Terry County Sheriff's Department operation led to multiple arrests on drug charges Thursday night. Officers served 25 warrants on 16 individuals, with most cases tied to possession with intent to deliver. Some suspects were already jailed or held in other facilities. Names include Jerry Pa, Mario Rodrigues, Miguel Rod, Marcus Mackey, Taylor, Isaac Nolan, Willie Mason, Denise Richardson, Lapresha Richardson, Foster, Kimberly Salas Guerra, Christavian Baker, Gilbert Mason, Ledeile Smith, Scotty Rivera, and David Castillo. Five other suspects were not named.

Fire Destroys Brownfield Church of Christ
A June 14 blaze leveled the 57-year-old Brownfield Church of Christ after a local employee smelled smoke. Fire crews from Brownfield and surrounding areas fought a defensive attack while nearby residents delivered water and meals to responders. The congregation lost its building and a city remembers weddings showers graduations held there as it plans to rebuild and prevent a recurrence.

Major Drug Operation Exposed in Brownfield Case
In January nine agencies uncovered a major cocaine distribution and money laundering operation in Brownfield. Ringleader Alfredo Rivera and five others including Veronica Rivera and Ramon Rivera were arrested. The netted five kilograms of cocaine and $78,000 in cash. Rivera received 235 months in federal prison. others were sentenced to 57 to 16 months.

Mystery Crash Kills Brownfield Man at Lubbock Road Intersection
A head on collision at the Lubbock and Tohoka Highways killed J R Collins of Brownfield. Tonya Moseley of Lub suffered no injuries and a two year old was unharmed in the crash which officials say may follow a diabetic incident. Terry County awaits grand jury action in February as another fatal traffic year ends.
