Brownfield Texas residents donate to the Firemen's Disaster Fund created after the December explosion that claimed three volunteer firefighters. Brownfield doctors begin Terry Hospital Fund by donating all emergency fees after the December 23 explosion that killed three volunteers and injured many others. About 535 in gifts have been received, with total fees estimated over 7000, plus contributions from Collins Dry Goods and others. A fundraising committee will consult with the hospital board to allocate the funds to needed equipment.

Scientist Whitmire Promoted Move to Pecos Post

Brownfield hospital lists burn victims slowly dwindle after the December 22 butane truck explosion on the southeast edge of Brownfield. About 160 fall season victims observe Christmas with bandaged hands as fourteen year old Dewey Van Story remains serious and likely to need skin grafts. Funeral service held in Lubbock for former Western Cottonoil manager
Final rites for O L Peterman Sr 72 former manager of Western Cottonoil Mill were led at First Methodist Church Lubbock by Dr J Chess Lov ern. Peterman died after a two month illness and had been a prominent cotton industry figure on the South Plains for over 40 years. He lived in Lubbock since 1920 except for brief periods and retired in 1956. He was born October 13 1886 in Cook County and married Marie Coffee in Lubbock in 1923. He served as Army first lieutenant in World War I and belonged to multiple fraternal and religious bodies. Burial followed at City of Lubbock Cemetery with Masonic rites.
