Public School Week Planned Jr Livestock Show Opens Thursday
The Terry County Junior Livestock Show co-sponsored by Terry County Young Farmers and the Brownfield Jaycees opens Thursday and runs through Saturday with about 300 hogs 20 calves and 18 sheep entered. Swine weigh-in 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday calves at 8 p.m. Thursday. New rules set hogs 180 to 250 pounds sows under 190 to be sold privately or kept home and lambs must be sheared two weeks before the show.

Local Board Calls Eight Men In March Induction
Texas will induct 908 men from Extended and First Priority groups in March 1971 per Colonel Melvin N. Glantz state director of Selective Service for Texas. Local Board 116 schedules March 9 call for eight men born in 1951 numbers 011 through 068 with two for physicals. extended priority group to supply most while first priority used only if needed. The extended group includes men whose lottery numbers were drawn in 1970 but delayed induction. The March pre induction physical is for 2,400 men.

Three New Firemen Introduced at Regular Meeting
At the Volunteer Firemen monthly meeting on Tuesday three new members were introduced: Clint Brannon Lee Modisette and Bob Milligan. Two training films were shown one on fire attacks and one on LP gas handling. Don Patton served as president in charge.

Satellite School Names Chairman for Mentally Retarded Children
Brownfield Satellite School for Mentally Retarded Children' s board of directors met to elect officers. Mrs. Grady Goodpasture was chosen chairwoman with Rev. Frank Brooks as treasurer and Mrs. Ken Muldrow as secretary. Susan Williams announced resignation effective April 1 and teaching posts are open. The group plans to move back to the United Presbyterian Church for spring, pending building repairs.
