The Texas Insurance Commission issued a telegram to Brownfield agent Dave Nicholson, crediting a 5 percent rate instead of a 15 percent penalty. A $100 premium will drop to $95, reflecting the new credit after five-year loss and premium review showing net premiums of $152,000 and net losses of $16,000 in 1955.

Lonnie Rhyne, Terry County justice of the peace, will return Saturday from Austin after attending a two day conference at the University of Texas Law School on traffic courts. The meeting focused on traffic court importance, safety, reform of justice court procedures, and proposed juvenile driver legislation. It was sponsored annually by UT Law School with the Attorney General's office Public Safety departments the Texas League of Municipalities and the American Bar Association.

County bonds totaling 200000 were sold this morning. Dittmar Company of Dallas won the 160000 road bonds approved December 19 after 10 bids. Interest 3.03645 percent. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Lubbock for Mrs. Tom Cobb 52 who died Sunday in Baylor Hospital Dallas after a year long illness. She was wife of Cobb’s department store president and mother of Tom Jr and Joe Paul. Survivors include her husband a daughter Mrs Bert Nelson of Dallas two sons and siblings. Brownfield voters will decide three city council seats on April 2 at City Hall while April 6 marks a school district trustee vote for two seats at the courthouse. Potential U S senator election hinges on 65th Legislature action. Current aldermen Murphy Noel and Wirwlie are the only filed candidates.
