Oilfield Accident Injures Worker Near Brownfield
A 19 year old, Bobby Wortham, was injured in an oilrig accident eight and one half miles east and four miles north of Brownfield and transported to Brownfield Regional Medical Center. Cables broke during a wireline job as blocks fell striking the worker. Wortham's condition was not known at press time. Meanwhile two former TG Y employees face Class B misdemeanor charges for taking merchandise totaling over 1800 dollars from the store over several months.

Flight of the Mauler Reborn at Terry County Airport
The Panhandle Squadron of the West Texas Wing CAF restored a Martin AM-1 Mauler marooned for 30 years, eight at Terry County Airport, one of only four remaining and likely the only one to potentially fly again. Colonel Wayne Turner located two airframes, one near Socorro New Mexico and another in Maryland, with 150 built in total.

Mauler AM-1 Mauler Restored By Panhandle Squadron
The CAF Panhandle Squadron completed a long restoration of a Martin AM-1 Mauler, rebuilt at Terry County Airport after years in storage. Russell Guest led weekend work, finishing last fall, with engine runup and a 25 minute flight reaching 7,000 feet. Restoration cost around $30,000 plus $3,000 for a final paint job, fuel costs about $1,000 per fill, and the plane weighs 18,000 pounds with 3,000 horsepower normal output. The aircraft remains a costly, powerful symbol of the Confederate Air Force heritage.
