Editor notes week of February twenty third to twenty eighth list daily meals. Monday features pork and beans with wieners and cream sauce. Tuesday fried chicken with creamed potatoes. Wednesday frito pie and pinto beans. Thursday baked ham with candied sweet potatoes. Each day includes fruit or salad, bread, butter and milk.
The work Anti-Memoirs by Andre Malraux is highlighted as a major literary and historic document of this century. It has been donated to Kendrick Memorial Library in memory of Judge George W. Neil by Mr and Mrs J L Hamilton.
Dr. John P. Jones assumes duties as director of Region VI Tuberculosis Control, Texas State Department, with offices at East Texas Tuberculosis Hospital. About 20 staff including nurses and investigators will serve the region. A new building and outpatient clinic will be constructed. Jones holds an MPH from UNC 1968 and an MD from Southwestern Medical School 1957. He lives in Tyler with wife and three children.
West Texas Press Association invites high school seniors to apply for the $800 scholarship contest with a May 15 winner announcement. Applications due April 15 to John H. McGaughey editor Albany News Albany 76439. Twelve colleges designated for winners include Abilene Christian College and Texas Tech among others. The plan supports four years of college funding contingent on academics.
Editor notes the Brownfield School cafeterias will serve multiple daily meals during the week of February 24 to 28. Menus include meatballs and spaghetti with sides, chili dogs, turkey and dressing, Weiners and cheese, and Friday roast beef with brown gravy. Desserts feature cobbler, beatnik cake, Jello, and pineapple salad. Milk and bread accompany each meal.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alva Goldston 80 were conducted at Trinity Baptist Church in Denver City with burial at Terry County Memorial Park. She died Thursday in a Lubbock hospital after a fall. Survivors include seven sons and seven daughters across several Texas states plus 36 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A listed plate shows fried fish and tartar sauce, sautéed buttered corn, lettuce and tomato tops, fruit cobbler, hot rolls, bitter, and milk.
Veterans of World War I reactivated the Parracks 2495 auxiliary during a Wednesday meeting at the American Legion Hall. Mrs. Sammie Miller was elected president with Mrs. C C Tucker as senior vice president and Mrs. Carl Russell as secretary treasurer. Mary Forrest installed as officer, with guests from Lubbock including Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schwarz and G B Forrest. The next meeting is set for March 15 at 2 30 p.m.

Entries include Commissioners Court Jaycees Senior Citizens Club Airport Board Blue and Gold Scout Banquet DeMolays Kiwanis Alpha Omega Toastmasters Civil Air Patrol Order of Eastern Star Lions Optimist Rotary and a Boys Golf Tournament.
VB1 Cubs Corner notes a Feb 17 VICA Club session in the Auto Shop and Feb 19 Youth for Christ meeting with 40 attendees. Sponsor Carey White announces Midland contest entries and business training topics. 200 tickets released for March 7 Athletic Banquet with speaker John Nibeland, Dallas Cowboys. Track queen Lanette Barton and princesses Jane Awbrey and Judy Briscoe named.
Tommy Jones Kathy Bailey and Debra Szydloski were elected delegates to the State Young Republican Convention to be held in San Antonio in March. Alternates are Jimmy Craig Linda Farnest and Brenda Campbell. Jones presided as new members were introduced and Mary Ruth Hope spoke on a portion of the Republican platform.
Brownfield Evening Lions Club completed officer elections at 6 30 p m Thursday meeting at Joe s Restaurant. Officers include Herschel Lowe president Morris Knox first vice president Albert Cade second vice president Elgin Smith third vice president R J Leatherwood secretary and treasurer Pat McMillan tail twister Byron Cabbiness lion tamer T C Williams Charlie Street Louis Hammond J B Jobe directors. A new member J C Williams and guest David Nicholson were introduced. Plans were made for the Charter Presentation banquet March 27 in the Crystal Room Holiday House with tickets 2 50. Dis trict Governor Don Taylor of Plainview will be guest speaker. Lions from nearby towns expected. public invited.
