Brownfield Rainbow Girls plan a Wednesday breakfast event themed This Is Your Life to honor Mrs. Lyons who marks 40 years of public teaching. The Brownberry County edition notes Terry County rivals and the town’s oldest business institution in a 15 page issue.

Funeral Rites Held For Mrs T H Green

Funeral services for Mrs T H Green 75 of Tel Tahoka Road were held Thursday at First Methodist Church with Rev James Tidwell officiating. She died Tuesday night at Freadaway Daniell Hospital after moving here from Montague County three years ago. Burial followed at Cary of Lubbock Cemetery under Brownfield Funeral Home. Surviving are her husband two sons Howard C of the home and Carl of Petrolia one daughter Mrs Frnest Evans of Parmington NM one brother Seab Hall of California one sister Mrs Lyle Arnedge of Hobbs nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Post junior high quartet takes top honors at Brownfield Talent Tourney

A Post junior high quartet won the seventh annual Brownfield Lions Tournament of Talent with a rhythm version of a Negro spiritual. Winners also included elementary and high school acts among a crowd of about 1,100. second and third place awards went to solo and duet performers.

Farm Labor Day Set Tuesday At Courthouse Basement

A Farm-Labor Day event is planned for 9 a.m. Tuesday in the northeast corner of the courthouse basement, organized by A T Jones of the Texas Employment Commission. It runs until noon and aims to bring farmers and laborers together. Jones notes good results from prior days and adds a TEC Lamesa representative will accept unemployment compensation claims in the courthouse each Thursday from 9 to noon.

Veteran Missionary To Speak At First Christian Church

Miss Ruth Musgrave missionary to Belgian Congo for 19 years under the Christian Churches will speak at the 10 50 morning service at First Christian Church. Known as Muma Lokole among Congolese she helped run a girls boarding home and taught in mission schools.

Religious Census Held in Brownfield Today

Brownfield churches will take part in a citywide religious census starting at 2 p.m. today. Workers sponsored by the Brownfield Ministerial Association will meet at their churches for assignments and instructions per Rev. James Tidwell of First Methodist Church.

Delta Sigma Pi Install Set for Mexico City College

Newell Reed of 702 East East Lens will head the Delta Sigma Pi installation team at Mexico City College on March 10, with regional director Joe M. Hefner and Bill Prercy. Reed and Hefner depart March 7 and return March 1. Reed, vice president of Brownfield Savings & Loan, is a Beta Upsilon Life member from Texas Tech. Men Ordered to Report for Service Exams and Induction

On March 13 twelve men were ordered by the Brownfield Board to report for physical examinations at 7 a.m. in Room 210 at Brownfield State Bank Building to be sent to Amarillo for exams. Five men were listed to report for induction into the Armed Services the same day.

Rainbow Breakfast Set for Wednesday at First Methodist
