The Brownfield city council set April 6 as the General City Election date. Incumbent councilmen Kenneth Purtell Jack Hamilton and Sam Teague filed for re election. Mayor C E Ross presided with the full council meeting. Lee Brownfield named election judge for the date.

City Council Approves Police Cruiser Bid and Utilities Work
Sun set Motors won the police cruiser bid at 1,528.68 with trade in a 1963 Chevrolet for a 1965 Fury V-8. A&G Electric Co. of Del Rio secured the television cable and 12,000 volt line work contract for 9,750 city portion and 12,350 Brownfield system portion, subject to a performance bond. The council also discussed police pay raises and possible juvenile officer hiring, and heard notes on a museum site and a Channel 11 TV appearance on February 23.
