Emily Blackstock was crowned Gomez Valentine Sweetheart at the Valentines Annual Banquet held last Friday at Gomez Baptist Church. Escort Larry Huckabee and 40 attendees heard emcee Alton Webb sing as decorations featured an Indian theme and Mrs T. L. Nipp served as chief preeter.

Suspected Hoax Robbery Ties Two Adults to Missing Cash

A 17 year old Brownfield attendant is jailed on felony theft charges after admitting a staged robbery at Jack's One-Stop Service Station. His uncle Loyd Green 21 of Andrews and Billy Don Anderson were charged with theft over $50 as part of the hoax. Anderson confessed that he and Green planned the fake robbery and divided the loot after a reported holdup by two Latin American youths. Investigators from three states pursue the alleged accomplice.

Sherman Mitchell of 1211 East Lons was notified of the death of his cousin Mrs Daisy Moses of Tulsa Oklahoma. Mrs Moses lived in Brownfield for years caring for her mother the former Mrs J O Brown. Burial was in Houston.

Loan Approved for Tahoka Electric Co-Op

U S Senator Ralph Yarbo announced by telegram that a Rural Electrification Administration loan of 1 592 000 was approved for Syntegar Electric Cooperative at Tahoka. The funds will build 227 miles of distribution lines serving 1 002 new rural customers and finance 600 irrigation pumps and other upgrades.

Mrs D Kennedy of 709 East Lake appears set to be district 2’s THCA vice president after no other candidates filed by the deadline. District 2 meets April 17 in Big Spring to elect the position. Kennedy chairs the THCA citizenship committee and serves as Terry County chair. She helped organize Willow Wells HD Club 14 years ago. District 2 covers 20 South Plains counties.

Posse Elects Five To Director Board

The Terry Sheriff's Posse elected five directors at a meeting at the Sheriff's Office Tuesday night. Appointed were E. B. Parrott, Kyle Graves, Frank Ratliff Jr., Ronnie Graham and Archie Copeland. A family night gathering was planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Party House with hosting by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Christopher and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Ashwander. The group also approved wearing vests as part of the uniform.
