Terry County Bale Count Season Yields Near Record Productivity

Terry County shows 240,084 bales from the 88 cotton crop with about 3,600 bales remaining to gin. ASCS Executive Director Danny Decker credits timely rains, strong fall conditions, and favorable moisture in a near record for productivity despite reaching about a bale per acre. County agent Tom Gaither notes underground moisture is low but a steady rain would help replenish soils for next planting.

O'Daniel Promoted at FNB Shareholders Meeting

Pat O'Daniel was elevated from Vice President to Executive Vice President at the Tuesday February 14 annual shareholders meeting of First National Bank of Brownfield. He succeeds Leonard M. Ellington, who retired December 31. Chairman L J Richardson reported 1988 assets at 90.883 million, deposits at 82.459 million, and equity capital at 7.744 million, with a positive 1989 outlook amid agriculture and energy sector stability. Directors and officers were re elected, including L J Richardson as Chairman and Carrol W. Collier and Charles Darwin among others.
