Randy Bishop-Monday, Brownfield standout 180 pounds 5 11, signed a four year football scholarship with the Texas University Longhorns. Art Davis represented UT at the ceremony, noting Bishop will likely play linebacker. Bishop chose Texas after visiting five schools praising coaches, academics, and the art department. He is the son of A C Bishop of Brownfield.

Break-In Vandalism Reported In Brownfield
Break in at Sonny's Feed and Supply Co. 501 W Main left a small hole in a back window screen and about $5 in change stolen from a vending machine. Vandalism included a damaged windshield on a car and a tire theft. Police arrested Joseph Lloyd and Billie F Charters for theft and burglary of about 60 cigarette packages.

The 12th annual Tournament of Talent by the Brownfield Lions Club opens Thursday at 7 30 PM in Brownfield High School Auditorium featuring elementary division competition and special acts. Tickets are 1 for adults and 50 cents for students with proceeds aiding the Lions Crippled Children Camp in Kerrville.

Livestock Show Shapes Up in Terry County
The Terry County Junior Livestock Show co sponsored by the Brownfield Jaycees and Young Farmers of Terry County runs March 7 8 and 9 at the County Show Barn west of the city. Funds raised support prizes for contestants with proceeds shared among entrants and special premiums for champions. Swine judging will be led by Bobby Lee of Wilson and Raymond King will judge the county event.

Rites Scheduled For Dalton P Lewis 86
Funeral services for Dalton P. Lewis, 86, will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the First Methodist Church with Rev. J Loyd Mayhew officiating. Burial will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under Brownfield Funeral Home direction. He died at 1:20 am Wednesday in Brownfield General Hospital after a long residency in Terry County since 1919. He married Nancy Ellison in 1909. survivors include his wife, two sons Lee Orvel and RL, two brothers, Clyde and Clarence, two sisters, Della Warren and Dessie Sawyer, and two grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Brownfield Registers Coldest Temperature in State
Brownfield has held the coldest status in the state for several days. Today's reading reached 17 degrees at ATFY the local station, compared with 18 degrees in Lubbock and Dalhart. Tuesday's 21 degrees narrowly trailed Lubbock's 22. Sunday's low of 16 was the state's coldest. No moisture spotted this week though a cold front brings chances of rain snow flurries later Thursday possibly reaching Terry County.
