Brownfield Leads Texas In Sales Tax Rebates Surge
Texas cities and counties, including Brownfield, posted the highest local sales tax rebates in state history with a total of 177.4 million dollars sent out. Comptroller John Sharp cites a stronger economy and more local tax collections as drivers. Brownfield received 94,376.49 this month, up 71.54 percent from last year, and Meadow earned 1,094.49 while Terry County had none. Through two months this year Brownfield's total reached 134,868.92, up 62.40 percent from 83,047.02 last year.
