Brownfield held its first annual stock show at the Terry County Show Barn featuring 84 animals 67 swine and 17 lambs exhibited by local FFA and 4-H youths. Grand champion swine went to Tillery Timmons, grand champion lamb to Billy Hayes, with reserve champions Bud Carrouth and Geoff Cooper.

Lubbock County Extension Agent Randy Upshaw judged fifty seven animals including six lambs six steers and forty five swine. Grand champion swine lamb and steer went to Cody Carroll Chad Brooks and Gary Ellison while reserve champions were shown by Misty West Chance Brooks and Julisa Barrier.
Terry County commissioners advance a lengthy agenda including buying an $8,550 1984 Ford Crown Victoria for the sheriff, a $41,061 Caterpillar loader for Precinct 4, and trading in a 1981 Chevrolet. They also authorize buried cable installation, a $2,000 land purchase for a caliche pit, $1,500 for the fair committee, and appoint Mary Jo Hardy to the historical committee. An auction of old county furniture and equipment is set for March 13, and a $325 deposit is approved for the County Judges and Commissioners Conference in June.
