Funeral services for Miss Fannie Day 74 retired practical nurse who died Saturday in St Marys Hospital Lubbock were held Sunday afternoon at Memorial Chapel Brownfield Funeral Home Day a Fairfield native had lived in West Texas since 1918 She worked at West Texas Hospital Lubbock and did private nursing in Brownfield Survivors include a sister Mrs W B Paschall Brownfield and a brother Wiley Day Templeton Calif Services were led by Rev Ed Crow First Baptist Church burial in Meadow Cemetery

Vocational Nursing Class Sought at Brownfield General Hospital

Brownfield General Hospital seeks applicants for the fifth class of vocational nursing starting in April. A personal interview is required before applications are accepted. Guardsmen Prepare for Statewide Alert Practice Next Week

Brownfield unit of the 36th Infantry Division briefs its 60 Guardsmen for a surprise alert set between February 17 and 25. Lt. Frank King notes readiness and cites past drills with high response times. The exercise tests prompt assembly and emergency response plans across the 9,000 member division.

Sheriff’s Posse Wins Riding Event in El Paso Show

The Terry County Sheriff's Posse topped 15 Texas and New Mexico clubs to win the riding event in El Paso. They also earned the longest-distance trophy after traveling a long distance for the Southwestern Fat Stock Show. Competing posse members included B. T. Chamber of Commerce Approves 1962 Growth Program

Brownfield Chamber of Commerce directors approve an intensive 1962 program linking agriculture, rural urban relations, industry and retail trades. The plan names Agriculture Committee heads Robert Baumgardner and Val Garner with City County Agent Jim Foy and others guiding ten committees including Industrial Retail Trades Public Relations Rural Urban and Health and Safety. The next board meeting is March 7.

Pan Am appoints Richard G. Tucker Slaughter Area clerk

Richard G. Tucker of Lubbock is named clerk of Pan American Petroleum's Slaughter Area office in Brownfield. He began with Pan Am as a roustabout at Wink in 1933 and served in clerical posts at Wink Iraan Aben and Hobbs. Tucker was district clerk at Abilene for eight years and has been in Lubbock since January 196. He is a Marion Indiana native and finished high school at Graham.

Ex-Resident in Research Operations Gets USDA Promotion

Dr. Earl Burnett of Brownfield rises to research investigations leader in soil management for USDA Soil and Water Conservation Research Division covering Texas New Mexico Oklahoma and Kansas. He previously led the Big Spring Field Station since May 1957 and is succeeded by Dr. James E. Box Jr. at Bushland near Amarillo. Burnett will focus full time on soil management, with Big Spring remaining as headquarters for an indefinite period.

Funeral today for city resident A C Holcombe

A C Holcombe 87 of 405 South Third Terry died 9 10 pm Tuesday in Brownfield General Hospital. Funeral at 10 am today at First Methodist Church with Rev J Loyd Mayhew and Dr Dallas D Denison officiating. Burial in Terry County Memorial Cemetery by Brownfield Funeral Home. Survivors include four sons two daughters a brother, a sister, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He came to Terry in 1919 from Arkansas and farmed until retirement in 1941.

Brownfield Student Makes Honor Roll GPA 3.00 at South Plains
