Wellman Girls 7-B Crown Clinched In Late Rally
The Wellman Kittens rallied in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to defeat Meadow 57 to 54 and capture the District 7-B girls title. Meadow Broncettes led 19-16 after one period and 37 percent shooting cooled late as Wellman surged with a 63 percent field goal mark. Key Meadow standouts were Claudene Beavers and Jackie Carroll, while Linda Barron led Meadow with 27 points. The boys game saw Meadow build a 29-2 first period lead and then coast to a win over Wellman.

Fitzgerald Rites Held on Saturday
Funeral services for C. E. Cliff Fitzgerald 70 of 209 East Hill were held Saturday at First Methodist Church with Rev. James Tidwell officiating. He died Thursday in Terry County Hospital after ranching in Yoakum and Terry counties. Military rites were conducted in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Brownsfield Funeral Home arranged. Survivors include his wife, son Jack of Borger, two daughters, four brothers, three sisters, and six grandchildren.
