Salons Approve Equipment Bids for Terry County

Terry County Commissioners met Monday at 10 a.m. with County Judge W. T. McKinney presiding and approved bids for vehicles and equipment. The Charles Paul Chevrolet bid for a car totaled 1849.70, with alternates from Bowman Oldsmobile Cadillac Pontiac at 2050 and 2155.76 respectively. Charles Darwin Ford bid 1996 for a Ford with a 1967 Oldsmobile trade-in. Other approved items include a maintainer for Precinct No. One at 13300 from West Texas Equipment, a nail retriever and used pickup from Lubbock Grader Blade Co. at 5900, and a bulldozer and trailer from West Texas Cement Co. at 22700. First National Bank was named depository. Sheriff Homer Parker sought a $100 raise for a secretary and permission to place a radio in Frank Gray’s car. both issues were addressed with salary unchanged and approval to use the spare sheriff radio. A low voltage line for Lyntegar Electric under Johnson Road was approved with burial depth three feet under the bar ditch.

Water Inc Sets 2nd Annual Meeting in Amarillo

Water Inc expands West Texas water effort with a Feb 18 meeting at the new Civic Center in Amarillo expected to draw over 800 attendees. President John Kendrick will present the President's Report followed by director elections. Speakers include Howard Crooke of Orange County Water District and executives from the Texas Water Development Board and Bureau of Reclamation.

Officer Appreciation Banquet Honors Local Police

Howard Henson Post 269 of the American Legion will honor local law enforcement personnel and their wives at a Friday 7:30 p.m. dinner in the American Legion Hall. The Outstanding Officer of 1968 will receive a $100 award and an engraved plaque. Law Enforcement Week runs Feb 9 15 proclaimed by County Judge McKinney and Mayor Hamilton. Robert P. Walsh state Legion commander will speak. Tickets cost $1. J B Huckabee chairs the committee.

Public Invited To CAP Program Tonight

Brownfield Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol will receive its charter at 7 30 p m today in ceremonies at the Party House. Dr C L Day of Lubbock Christian College will be guest speaker and the public is invited to attend and hear Day discuss highlights of the 1968 Joint Civilian Orientation Conference.

Bids Awaiting Action on Brownfield School Bonds

Brownfield Independent School District board opened bids on 2,154,000 in school bonds voted in November but no bids were submitted amid market concerns tied to Senate Bill No. 20. The bill, passed by the Senate, could raise rates to 6.5 percent and is expected to pass the House soon.
