BRMC OKs paramedic upgrade for Emergicare staff

At a Monday board meeting of Terry Memorial Hospital District officials approved upgrading Emergicare Ambulance from EMT to paramedic status. Director Leon Pope noted additional communications upgrades and a radio tower to handle multiple frequencies were also needed.

County extends fire coverage for Meadow Wellman districts

County officials at Terry County Commissioners Court approved expanded coverage for Meadow and Wellman fire departments and agreed more rural lines could be added. Commissioner Jasper Jowers noted improved equipment at Wellman and Meadow allow broader area response and potential cost savings, with Brownfield Volunteer Fire Department costs also rising.

Paramedic upgrade approved for Emergi care at BRMC

The plan adds paramedics to administer defibrillation and cardiac meds on scene under doctor protocols. Officials estimate extra monthly costs of 400 to 500 dollars per governing triad. The measure, supported by Commissioners Coverage and Webb, passed after debate.
