Terry County Rodeo Set for June 8 10
The Terry County Rodeo sponsored by the sheriff’s posse is tentatively scheduled for June 8 10 with Dave Crate Snider noting a 6 am breakfast. Elk City producer Plusnamer is considered for the event. Plummer and Butler Brothers are linked to stock. The posse’s new arena is finished and touted as the best in West Texas.

Local law officers reported a busy week with burglaries and car thefts. Investigations include a break in at Plaza Restaurant and a vandalized hasp on a Copeland Price warehouse. Manuel Perez was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after a shooting near Av Sur Fabila. Multiple traffic accidents and various arrests for vagrancy, forgery, and other charges are noted, with several suspects released on bond or costs. A Volkswagen owned by Interstate Publishers Service disappeared after an overnight motel stay. A 1965 Cadillac and other vehicles were involved in service-station and parking lot accidents. The Brownfield High School Livestock Judging Team, part of the Future Farmers of America, won first place at the International Southwestern Livestock Show in El Paso against 41 teams. Sneed led in swine, and Farrar ranked high overall. Friona FFA placed second.
