Trustee Election Set as Brownfield Board Seeks Candidates

Brownfield Board of Education schedules annual trustee election for April 7. Two positions open for President Jim Murdough and T A Hicks. neither seeks re election. Balloting from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the County Superintendent office. filings due 30 days before election in Brownfield High School business office. Lions Prepare Tenth Tournament of Talent at Brownfield

Lions Club plans the 10th annual Tournament of Talent at Brownfield High School auditorium on February 22 and 23 starting 7 30 p m with four divisions including elementary and Negro. Entries close February 19 with rehearsals February 20 at 6 30 p m. Top prizes awarded per division and a grand winner with admission set at 1 for adults and 50 cents for children and students.

Second Republican Files for County Post-Commissioner

Monroe Rowden of Route 4 announces his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Precinct 4 county commissioner in the May 5 primary. He is the second Republican candidate for a county office, following Charles S. Kersh for county judge. Rowden, 37, lifelong Terry resident, Army Air Force veteran, cites a need for a two party system in Texas and Terry County.

Four-County Agriculture Workers Plan February Meeting

The Four-County group of agriculture workers from Terry Dawson Gaines and Yoakum counties will meet Tuesday at 7 a.m. in the county agent's office in Seminole. Saturday Services Held Here For Mrs Ida Day

Funeral services for 62 year old Mrs Ida Day of Brownfield were conducted at 2 p m Saturday at Southside Church of Christ. Burial was in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. pallbearers were Brownfield men. She died Friday morning at her daughter’s home after moving from Altus Oklahoma.
