Brownfield banker Dennis Q. Lilly told about 30 Four County Agriculture Workers members in Lamesa that milo should not be controlled on the South Plains. He cited a U S Department study showing break-even at 1 700 pounds and praised milo as a cooperative, mechanized crop suitable for farmers losing cotton to hail or wind. He noted major costs of fertilizer and irrigation and urged applying cotton farm management to milo for potential net profit.

Davis Trial Set in Cochran County Court
A new trial for E C Davis a Brownfield osteopath charged with abortion was scheduled in Cochran County District Court Judge W C Ledbetter approved the defense change of venue motion. Davis was first charged July 14 1958 indicted September 1958 tried March 12 1959 found guilty sentenced to two years. Court of Criminal Appeals reversed for jury misconduct in September 1959. Reindicted November 1959 with a potential two to five year term. Trial date not exact but hearings begin in late March with a new trial expected then.
