25th Annual Talent Contest Set by Brownfield Lions Club
The 25th Annual Talent Contest runs Thursday and Friday at 7:30 pm in Brownfield Middle School Auditorium with three divisions grade school junior high and high school plus an overall winner. Judges include Dean and Marilyn Robertson and Jimmy Gray of Lubbock. Special acts and a Friday cake auction accompany the event. Tickets cost 150 for adults and 100 for students with proceeds supporting civic projects. Also the Sixth Annual Cotton Patch Eight Mile and Three Mile Runs begin 10 am Saturday Feb 12 sponsored by West Texas Running Club with registration at Cub Stadium Fieldhouse.

The Brownfield Jaycees banquet at 7 30 p m in Brownfield High School Commons will honor Terry County s Outstanding Young Man for 1976 and name the Outstanding Jaycee of the Year. Nominees have been accepted and will be announced during the event.

Farm accident kills teen as basket touches power lines
A 17 year old Arios Herrera was killed and his father Lupe Herrera burned when a lifted overhead cotton basket contacted electrical lines. They were guiding the basket with a winch truck near a Brownfield metal building on Lamesa Road. Lupe Herrera survived injuries. both men were hospitalized. The Brownfield Cubs beat Lakeview 75 to 58 with Kerry Cranfill scoring 29.
