Texas Water Development Board approved a 370000 agricultural water conservation loan to the South Plains Underground Water Conservation District covering Terry County. The district will loan up to 80 percent of the equipment value at rates up to 4.8 percent for five to seven years to farmers and ranchers, financed by a 2 million DOE grant and a 7 million TWDB bond block. The district spans about 899 square miles with 14800 residents and 480000 acres of farmland, 129000 irrigated.
