City sales tax rebate checks rise with 1984 payments

State Comptroller Bob Bullock announced checks totaling 105.4 million dollars were sent to 980 cities, with statewide payments up 2.57 percent from 1983 despite a shift of 15,000 taxpayers from quarterly to monthly reporting. Houston led with 19.2 million in February, Dallas 12.6 million, San Antonio 6.6 million. Austin, Fort Worth, and El Paso also reported increases or declines in year to date totals for 1984.

Goldston announces political intentions for county commissioner

Gerald Goldston of Route 4 Brownfield declares Democratic candidacy for precinct 3 county commissioner. He and wife Theresa farm in Terry County for 18 years, active in sheriff posse and riding clubs, Church of Christ members, with children Meg Vic and Lynn, a Texas Tech graduate. First Annual Brownfield Stock Show Scheduled
