Renowned Speaker Scheduled for Brownfield Chamber Banquet

Melvin T. Munn, director of public relations for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, will be guest speaker at Brownfield Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet. The event Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Junior High School cafeteria features local dignitaries, a program by Rev. Tidwell, introductions by Curtis Sterling, and music by A. V. Wall and Brownfield High School Choir. An evening dinner is on the menu with tickets $2.50.

Services for Lynn Wright Today at First Baptist Church

Funeral rites for Lynn J. Wright aged 34 of 1207 North Atkins are set for 3 30 p m at First Baptist Church with Rev Jones Weathers officiating. Wright owned a snack bar at Sands Bowling Lanes and died about 1015 p m Friday at the bowling alley. He had a lifelong heart condition.

Alfred Wurst a 21 year old German world traveler stopped in Brownfield to discuss his hitchhiking tour that has covered about 40 000 miles and 23 countries He met General Chiang Kai Shek and President Sukarno and planned to travel to Dallas Fort Worth then into Austria and Mexico He travels on a visitors visa with help from organizations and individuals and began his journey after leaving Germany in August 1955

Cotton Classing Ballots Sent to Dallas Office

Robert Baumgardner leader of Brownfield Cotton Classing Association says ballots on the proposed cotton classing office will be bundled and mailed Tuesday to USDA officials in Dallas. He urges nonvoters to register Monday with County Agent Jim Foy as the vote stands 265 for and 23 against.

Last Rites Held For Mrs Huckleberry Pioneer of Terry

Funeral services were held for Mrs Della Huckleberry 80 of Route 1 with Rev Jones Weathers officiating. She came to Terry County in 1903 with her husband and died after a month long illness at Terry County Hospital. Burial was in Terry County Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters and four sons.

State President to Meet with Group

Texas Hospital Auxiliaries President Mrs. Milton Loring of Midland will visit Brownfield Tuesday to counsel with the Terry County Hospital Auxiliary. The meeting at 10 am in South Plains Health Unit will set uniforms orders and announce committees and work schedules.
