Young Farmers Feedlot Tour Set for February 13

The Terry County Young Farmers announce a tour changed from February 11 to February 13. Departing 7 a.m. from the courthouse square, the chartered bus travels to Hereford Fruita and Dimmitt feedlots with prefeeding operations and Missouri Meat Packing Plant visits. Terry Receives 29.5 Miles of Seal Coating

The Texas Highway Commission awards a 530 mile seal coat contract with Terry County receiving 29.5 miles in four projects. Panhandle Pavers Inc and High Plains Pavers Inc, of Lubbock, win the bid at 1,729,643.10 dollars. J W King is the in charge engineer for the project, slated for about 90 working days.

Talent Tournament Planned by Brownfield Lions Club

The 17th annual Tournament of Talent will be held February 20 and 21 at Brownfield High School Auditorium with a 7 30 p m start and a 6 30 p m rehearsal February 18. Entry closes February 18 with a three minute limit and prizes of 30 20 and 10 in three divisions plus a grand prize Friday night. Sponsors list include Lions Club organizers, with masters of ceremony E F Crow Howard Mclroy and Robert Levo. Tickets cost 50 cents for students and 1 for adults. Special entertainment by Mrs John Luckie and her students noted.

Don Smith Addresses Brownfield Kiwanis Club

Don Smith of Lubbock, lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Division seven, spoke at the Brownfield Kiwanis noon meeting at the Party House. He outlined club aims and urged members to support the year’s Stand Up For Freedom theme. Don Burda led the session and introduced three guests: David Renfro, Richard Garcia, and Pat Keller.

Chamber Directors Accept Increased Budget For 1969

Terry County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture directors approve a 1969 budget of 30,904.78 in a regular session at 6 30 a m. Comptroller Dennis Q Lilly notes annual dues should total 19 000 and Harvest Festival events about 12 000, yielding a working fund near 31 000 versus 30 986 in 1968.

Pioneer Natural Gas official named Terry County chamber director

Charles Fulkerson district manager for Pioneer Natural Gas was chosen as a three year director to succeed Dr Noah Stone who cannot serve. A replacement for Paul Blackstock will be chosen at the March meeting.
