Twenty civil jury cases are scheduled for trial starting Monday at 10 a.m. before District Judge M. C. Ledbetter of Morton, with motions at 10 a.m. and jury reporting at 1 30 p.m. The docket includes Goodpasture Grain & Milling Co. versus Neil Atchison and others, and multiple other civil actions against trucking firms, insurance companies, and railways.

World War veterans in Terry County will receive about $16 390 from a national GI insurance distribution totaling $211 million. The payouts come from lowered death rates and accumulated dividends, with 340 local recipients. Korean War veterans do not receive this dividend and nationwide payments average about 76 for World War I veterans and 46 for World War II veterans.
Brownfield merchants offer mid winter bargains for Monday sales. Residents can replenish children's wardrobe pick up extra sweaters and buy household supplies. Gardening tools and spruces up the place are featured as part of the sales event.
Brownfield Police Chief Tippitt presented the 1966 annual report noting a 15 percent drop in traffic accidents from 1965 due to selective enforcement. The department boasted a 58 percent arrest clearance rate for larceny and 51 percent for burglaries, far above national averages, with 100 percent clearance on aggravated assault and forcible rape.
Farmers may sign up starting Monday for the 1967 Cotton and Feed Grain and Wheat Programs with a final date of March 17. Notices mailed January 27 explain allotments leases yields and payment rates. Divertion between 12.5 and 35 percent and a 10.78 cent per pound diversion payment with 11.53 cent price support per pound are set, plus CCC loan eligibility.
