Betcher 47 Wellman farmer were held this afternoon in Dudley He was found dead Tuesday night caught in a tractor jack knife position after his belt became snagged by a power lift The death was ruled natural likely from over exertion and shock Survivors include his widow a son Carl Ross Betcher Henry Betcher and two brothers King and Glen Betcher The family lived on Route 3 and Betcher farmed in the Wellman area since 1950 Burial will be in Dudley Cemetery

Brownfield City Council approved a new water rate to take effect with March billings. The plan raises minimum to 2 dollars for zero to 3 000 gallons and 35 cents per thousand for 3 000 to 50 000 gallons while over 50 000 gallons is 30 cents. The old rate started at 1 50 and varied by tier.
