Chase Backfires As Involved Man Is Jailed For Armed Robbery
A Saturday night chase ended with Eugene Finnien arrest on armed robbery charges after a high speed pursuit on Fifth and Ripley streets. A second suspect, Roy Hunter, was with Finnien when police found 14 beer cases in the Pontiac. Finnien later surrendered to Sheriff Chick Lee and faced weapons and unlawful liquor charges in addition to the armed robbery case.

District Court Tackles Two Criminal Cases
Two criminal cases in District Court last week ended with a five year suspended sentence for Perry Boyd of Meadow for burglary at Meadow Farm store and Meadow school and a two year sentence for Eugene Finnien who received a suspended term for cattle theft after killing a calf, skinning it, barbecuing it and selling it in town.

Four Lane Highway Project to Lubbock eyed by state group
State Highway Commission chairman KE H Thornton told an Odessa Lubbock highway hearing that within ten years traffic on the route will require a six lane road, with funds of 100 million dollars asked over five years for state highway improvements. Sixteen local men will depart Tuesday with the Selective Service board for induction into the armed services on Wednesday. The February call totals 33 men, with the quota filled by 20 year olds. Four Brownfield residents charged with disturbing the peace
Four Brownfield Negroes faced disturbing the peace charges after a Flats Sunday night fight. Corley Williams and Fra Mae Toler were jailed after receiving first aid for face and arm wounds. Williams required 18 stitches. Cordie Hangs and Arthur Brown surrendered Monday as an aggravated assault charge against Brown was filed.

Daughter-In-Law Of Local Couple Dies

E G Black 51 died at home 506 East Buckley Thursday after months illness. He was district superintendent for Tulsa Rig and Reel. Services were held at First Baptist church with Rev. Jones W Weathers officiating. Burial in Terry County Memorial cemetery with Masonic rites. Survived by wife two sons Rex and Max and sister Mrs Don Patrick. Black a native of Keystone Oklahoma had lived in Brownfield since 1941. He was a Master Mason and member of El Paso Consistory and Amarillo Khiva.
