The Brownfield City Council set April 3 as the election date for three council seats and opened filings with deadline March 2. Ray Anderson and Augie McBride presented a 40 acre southeast Brownfield subdivision plan seeking annexation, zoning, underground utilities, and specific housing setbacks.

The Terry County Grand Jury convenes Thursday to weigh 15 cases for the 1973 term including murder with malice in the Clara Mae Ward case. Other indictments include four burglary, four robbery by assault, three marijuana possession, one theft by false pretext, one forgery and passing, and one worthlessness check.
Tom and Ramona Carter of 701 E. Tate are set for a five day Hawaii tour won through Case Tractor sales contests. The Carters have previously toured Italy and other destinations including Rome Naples Pompeii and Amalfi Drive with prizes earned by Tom Carter’s sales for Glastron boats and Case tractors.
Terry County Commissioners authorized County Judge Herb Chesshir to pursue expanding the tax assessor collector’s office in the courthouse. The plan converts the adjacent ladies restroom into office space while restoring the other restroom to its original use. The court also added a third deputy in the County Clerk’s office and named Chesshir and Harvey Smith to the Community Action Agency Board.
