Early morning ice blanketed streets as six accidents occurred in 25 minutes. A Lubbock man, R B Carter, rolled a vehicle on Levelland highway and was hospitalized with back pains. A city pickup rolled on Fifth Street causing $100 damage. Police arrested five for public intoxication and one for driving while intoxicated. A 1978 Oldsmobile window was smashed at Blacklock Chevrolet and a Hill residence burglary netted $30. A missing 1977 Sunbird was recovered near Sundown.

The Terry County Commissioners Court met Tuesday and approved two public road waivers in Precincts 3 and 4 to open two short roads. They await Park Board rent recommendations for the Party House and Amphitheater at Coleman Park. The court named K D Moore County Auditor effective January 1, 1984 and named Aubrey I Price and Janice L Hudson as Assistant County Auditors. Amendments to the 1983 budget were approved.

Linda Stokum and Teresa Cox won a wheel balance from Shock Tire, Salome Morales won a $25 gift certificate from Hamilton Tire Co., Pat Moore won booster cables from Brownfield Automotive, and Dale Rimer won a $25 Christmas arrangement from Brownfield Floral. Other winners include Nolkuta Hernandez, Mike Slaughter, Curtis Kirby, Glenda Farris, Lional Gonzales, Bob Saunders, and Maria Carveres for various prizes.
