9 1 1 Observes Anniversary of Emergency Service
Brownfield Chief J T Churchwell calls the first year of 9 1 1 Emergency Service in Terry County a great success. Auditors from GTE and the state 9 1 1 commission praised the system as well operated after 908 calls since October 1990. The service has saved lives by faster response times with EmergiCare technicians on call and doctor consultation. The primary answering point remains Brownfield Police Department with EmergiCare Ambulance, Brownfield Fire Department and Terry County Sheriff’s Department as secondary points. Plans for a VIS voice information system could allow targeted evacuations via telephone alerts in disasters. Local officials coordinate with state officials and GTE. more than 3,000 residents have received 9 1 1 tours and education.

Councilmen Accept Bid for ISF Water Sewer Extension
