Goodfellows mobilize for holiday donations and volunteers
The Goodfellows seek toys money and food to aid over 200 local families. Cash drops at city hall while food and toys go to the fire station. Volunteers needed to distribute items on Christmas Eve morning with deliveries starting at 7 a.m. Meet at the Terry County Rodeo Barn. Salvation Army sponsors three families with gifts and a dinner delivered by the Terry County Sheriff's Department.

Councilmen tour ISF facility and approve final payment
Thursday morning's council meeting focused on the Intermediate Sanction Facility issues. After discussion, final acceptance was approved. City Manager Dick Fletcher, Mayor Graham Swain, and contractor Gary Smith toured the ISF to inspect 14 areas for needed improvements before paying Smith and Greenstreet Construction. Approved items include concrete porches 225, holding cell benches 580, doors paint 600, ceiling joints 350, camera wiring 970, duplex receptacles 320.

Evans earns AAA State honor as top back for Cubs
Shad Evans, the Class AAA area leading football scorer, was named Honorable Mention All-State. The 6-3, 175-pound junior tailback totaled 1,363 yards on 10 games, led District 3-3A in points with 19 touchdowns and one two-point conversion, and contributed as a receiver with nine catches for 196 yards. He helped the Cubs to a district title and a playoff berth.
