Christmas programs seek donations for toys and funds

Christmas Tree for Kids and Goodfellows programs need money and gifts this season. Toys can be donated to the Terry County Law Enforcement Center on Tohoka Road. Cash gifts to the Tree program go to the Terry County Clerk’s Office Room 105. Food and toy donations for Goodfellows may be left in barrels at United Supermarket NAPA Gebo’s Dollar General and Brownfield City Hall. Cash gifts to Goodfellows go to Mary West Mary Jo Collins or Kelley Taber at City Hall.

Brownfield Council Approves Drainage Work Near Oak Grove

Brownfield City Council amended a contract with West Texas Paving Inc to build a drainage channel at Ballard and Cactus to curb flooding on Cactus Lane. Residents enter county races for March primaries

The first day to file for the March 4 2008 primaries is Monday December 3 and the final deadline is January 2 2008. Democratic Chairman Joe Sears and Republican Chairman Mike Timmons oversee filings as candidates for County Judge District Judge Sheriff Precinct One and Three Commissioners Tax Assessor Collector County Attorney and Constable submit. At Friday afternoon Jerry Johnson filed for Sheriff Rexann Turrentine for Tax Assessor Collector. Alan Bayer Bill Doc Grant filed for County Judge while Eddie Ryburn Jess Chidester and Mike Swain filed for Precinct One Commissioner with all candidates in the Democratic Primary.
