A report notes three suspects were taken into custody at the scene of a burglary. The letter from Floyd Smith of Salinas Calif mentions subscribing to the Brownfield News and recalls family ties to local history including Mr Strickland and early county figures.
Brownfield Police report two men and a 15 year old juvenile charged with burglary after a Thanksgiving Day break-in at Brownfield High. Entry came through a north side window near the cafeteria. a duffle bag packed with corn dogs and a fire extinguisher were found. Principal Jesse Gero’s office was damaged and candy scattered in the storage room. A 1971 Mercury stolen from June Kirby and tools from Pickett Motor Company were also noted.
Brownfield Schools released the list of proposed textbooks for 1974 75, compiled by curriculum director Jackie Pinson. The state recommended books cover handwriting language and grammar levels from grade 1 through 7, with numerous publishers including Zaner Scott Macmillan Noble Palmer Laidlaw and Harper. Residents may contact Pinson to review copies of any book. The report also notes district employment figures and Brownwood and Canutillo statistics, alongside Cub running team state qualifications with lineup photos.

United Fund donations remain short of $5 000 to reach the 1974 goal.
