Vacation Ends Monday Students Begin Classes
Summer officially ends for Terry County youngsters tomorrow as the 1982-83 school year opens in Brownfield Wellman and Union. Brownfield five campuses start at 8:30 a.m. Wellman at 8:28 a.m. Union at 8:25 a.m. Brownfield adds 27 new teachers. Meadow adds a new high school principal James Lee and three new teachers.

Crossing Guards Take Positions This Monday
Crossing guards begin duty at three crosspoints to protect Brownfield students on Lubbock and Tahoka Highways. At Lubbock Ripley from 7:20-8:10 and 3:45-4:20, Tahoka A and Tahoka D from 7:30-8:20 and 3:30-4:10. Extra patrols will cover Colonial Heights and Oak Grove Schools with a 20 mph school zone limit enforced.

Terry County Commissioners meet in special session
Terry County held a special session to discuss the Brownfield Airport runway project, now delayed to next year due to soil tests and wet conditions. The board approved a $1,000 grant to the Terry County Child Welfare Board amid plans to rework 88,000 square feet of runway 20 to remove surface layers, dry the subsurface, and add caliche.

Thursday Deadline Set For Farm Nominations
Area residents have until Thursday to submit nominations for four major annual agricultural awards to be presented after the county farm tour on Sept. 16. The tour, co sponsored by the Terry County Soil and Water Conservation Service and the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce, will bus agribusinessmen and producers to four or five stops to view outstanding local farming. For years three awards have been given at the close of the tour, which ends with a Coleman barbecue lunch.

Reward Offered for Residence Burglary Information
Brownfield Crime Information Inc offers a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those involved in a residence burglary at 1410 East Reppte. A bottle of medication was taken. The incident occurred on Wednesday August 25, 1982.

City Police Report Seven Arrests Made
The Brownfield Police Department made seven arrests during the three day period Tuesday through Friday. Arrests included three for public intoxication, two on traffic warrants, and two juvenile arrests.
