Citizens miss public hearing on Terry County 2006 tax rate
Terry County residents did not attend Thursday's public hearing on the 2006 tax rate. A second hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Commissioners' Chamber to meet new state guidelines requiring two hearings if the rate rises over the effective rate. The board plans a rate of 64.3941 cents, raising about $134,000 for 2006 to cover fuel costs and roof renovations, with the tax rate and budget to be adopted at the Sept. 12 session.
