Rites Held For Dick Brownfield
Funeral services for A M Dick Brownfield were held at First Baptist Church with Rev Albert McDowell officiating. Burial was in Brownfield Cemetery. Brownfield, a 90 year old rancher, died after a heart attack at Brownfield General Hospital. He helped establish Brownfield State Bank & Trust Company and aided town growth including a railroad. Survivors include four daughters, one son, two step children, a brother, two sisters, 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Old Post Office Up For Auction
The old post office at North Fifth and Hill Streets will be sold at open auction starting 7:30 p m Tuesday. The sale will be in the Flame Room of Pioneer Natural Gas Co. Brownfield city officials led by Mayor C F E Ross will represent the city as the only known bidder.
Flag Dedication Scheduled Monday at Kendrick Memorial Library
A flag dedication ceremony will be conducted by Howard Henson Post No 269 of the American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary at Kendrick Memorial Library Monday at 10 a.m. The groups purchased a new flag for the library and will present it to staff after the ceremony.

Summer Band School Evening Concert At High School Lawn
The annual Summer Band School concert will be at 7 30 p m on Monday on the high school lawn. Brownfield Junior High under John Garrison opens with La Sorrella and other pieces followed by the high school band directed by Fred Smith performing the National Anthem and selections. The program concludes a three week session with an evening concert for the public.

Funeral services for Mrs. R. L. Edna Stallings age 48 were conducted at 2 p m Friday at Brownfield Memorial Chapel with Rev A B Kyle officiating. Graveside rites followed at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under Brownfield Funeral Home direction. She died Wednesday in a Dallas nursing home after living in Dallas since 1963. Survivors include two daughters two step sons one sister five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
