Odessa native joins Brownfield Police Department
Odessa native Mike Dorris began working for Brownfield Police Department in November 2005 after a plastics plant layoff sparked a career change. He trained at Odessa College Police Academy and now patrols 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., handling calls as they come. Dorris and his wife Deadra, a first grade teacher, have two daughters and enjoy family time, fishing, hunting, and golf. Chief Tony Serbantez praises his street skills and community fit.

Power of Tides and Moon in a WWII Harbor Rescue
Derek McNamara relates how Allied engineers freed Eritrean harbor entrances by floating sealed gas tanks to lift concrete sunken barges. The clever method used tidal pull and moon-driven gravitation, lifting obstacles and restoring harbor usability. The piece closes with Psalm 93 praising divine majesty and enduring statutes.
