Drug raid nets 21 suspects in Terry County bust

A large multiagency operation in Terry County led to the arrest of 21 alleged drug dealers and two others for public intoxication after raids at multiple county locations. Suspects include Joseph Montano charged with five counts of delivery and Willie Nolan with three counts. bonds range from 1,000 to 50,000.

Brownfield council keeps 93 tax rate amid base rise

Brownfield officials approved maintaining the 0.5225 effective tax rate for 1993 despite a base value increase from 149 million to 151 million. A lower rate option would likely trigger a higher rate next year, said City Attorney Bill McGowan II, while City Manager Dick Fletcher noted the base remains well below mid-80s peaks. Fletcher Named to State Ethics Committee

Brownfield City Manager R C Dick Fletcher was chosen for the Texas City Management Association Ethics and Professional Standards Committee. Fletcher, an AAS police science graduate from Galveston College and BA political science from Texas Tech, has served Brownfield for nearly 20 years, nine as city manager.
